My story.
Hello, I’m Ruth Henderson-Cash, founder and owner of Cheltenham-based Yoga Well.
A native New Yorker (my accent still gives me away) I met an Englishman at the age of 18 at a first chance dance at the University of Utah. We quickly fell in love, spent some time together back in England, and married in 1987.
Having moved back to the US when my father fell ill, we returned to England for a visit and I realised it felt like home. My husband found a job in Gloucestershire in 1997, we settled in Cheltenham and have lived here ever since.

From accountant to yoga teacher
In the meantime, I had long completed my degree in economics and was working as a chartered accountant. But my heart told me that corporate life was no longer for me. Being a long term practitioner of yoga, the opportunity to retrain as a yoga teacher presented itself, and I jumped at the chance.
I’m now a registered yoga therapist, Yoga Alliance professional, and CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) registered, and have taught yoga since 2013.
Why I do what I do
Bringing balance, harmony and well being to the lives of my students is what gets me out of bed each day. Having had breast cancer myself back in 2017 – and knowing how much yoga supported me during this time – I particularly enjoy helping people with health challenges in private yoga therapy as well as within my yoga classes.
I love empowering people with the tools they need to make positive changes in their lives – whether that’s physical improvements to their strength or fitness levels, or changes in mindset or attitude.
Whatever you’re looking to achieve through yoga, I’d love to help you on your journey. Find out more about my classes, or get in touch to discuss private yoga tuition.
