During this women-only course we delve into the biological changes along with the myriad of symptoms from physical to mental and emotional.
There will be time to ask questions and share experiences, as well as laughter!

Together we explore yoga tools to support all phases- before, during, and after.  We cover advanced preparations to smooth the transition, support for symptoms, and suggestions to maintain wellness and well being.

During this one hour zoom get-together, organised by Orange Yoga, we’ll go through the biological changes happening at this time, along with a review of common and less known symptoms, from physical to mental and emotional. After a few gentle yoga practices, participants are invited to get a cuppa and share as they wish to- what has been a challenge, what has helped, and what have been positive aspects of this time.

Join us to experience the power of community as we support and inspire each other.

Roughly one in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime, with the risk increasing with age. Each person’s experience of it will be unique. Yoga offers an adaptable practice to support the whole person at a challenging time.

During this workshop, we will cover the most common cancers amongst men and women, typical treatment protocols, and how this may impact how they practice their yoga during various treatment stages and beyond.

We will cover advice on discussing the student’s cancer with them, so that you as a teacher are better able to direct their practice. We will myth bust some of the fears you or your student may have about their yoga practice. And spend some time role playing and offering relevant adaptions for students, with time for Q&A and sharing.

This workshop is currently lined up to be in-person at the yoga studio in Rodney Road (covid restrictions allowing).

Please bring your own yoga mat, any props you might need, warm layers and your own water bottle (we are not allowed to share anything with you to be covid secure).

Sat 17 April 2-5pm
£30,
Spaces limited to 11 students

Questions you might have

What should I bring to the venue?
Bring a yoga mat with you, and layers to keep warm as windows will be ventilated.  A small blanket is recommended for relaxations, and handy to use as a prop.  There will be chairs available but you are welcome to sit on your mat.  You may wish to bring water with you.

As this is a course, there will be a few handouts, and you may wish to take some notes, so pen and paper or a small notebook might be handy.

What is the difference between a course and a class?
In addition to yoga practices that you would find in a yoga class, during a course, there is more interaction between the students and the teacher with time to discuss and share learning and experiences.  Additionally, information may be provided in the form of handouts, and there may be written reflective exercises offered.
You may be encouraged to work at home with the practices presented during the course so you can become familiar with them, and notice any impact they are having.

Do I have to commit to any home assignments for a course?
Ultimately, this is your time and experience, and you decide what you wish to do.  But a structure is provided to enable you to gain the most from the course content and help fulfil your goals.
